Overview

As a Parent Education Trainer at Family Focus, you will have a vital role in providing high quality parenting intervention programs to families in Stoke-on-Trent. These programs are crafted to enhance parenting abilities, enhance parent-child relationships, and tackle behavioural issues in children.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured group sessions and workshops as part of the Incredible Years programme, following the established curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Organise and coordinate training sessions, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place, including venue booking, materials preparation, and participant registration.
  • Facilitate group discussions, interactive activities, and role-playing exercises to engage participants and reinforce learning objectives effectively.
  • Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to programme participants, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment conducive to learning and growth.
  • Conduct one-on-one consultations with parents/caregivers to address specific concerns, provide personalised advice, and develop tailored strategies for parenting success.
  • Maintain accurate records of programme attendance, participant progress, and feedback received.
  • Working collaboratively with lead trainer, senior management and have involvement in the preparation of comprehensive reports as required by funders and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research, developments, and best practices in parenting education and child development. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Collaborate closely with lead trainer, management, family support workers, and external partners, to ensure seamless service delivery and integrated support for families.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, including health and safety guidelines and safeguarding protocols.

Education, Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in delivering parenting programmes or educational workshops, with specific experience in facilitating the Incredible Years programme highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner. Proficiency in delivering presentations and facilitating group discussions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and families. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated, patience, and sensitivity when working with families facing challenges. Ability to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment conducive to learning and growth
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and environments. Ability to tailor programme delivery to meet the needs of participants from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills. Ability to plan and coordinate training sessions, manage resources effectively, and maintain accurate records.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning in the field of special education, child welfare, or related areas.
